Get to Know Jeff
Jeff was born and raised in rural Central Illinois where he developed a strong work ethic and sense of community through the influence of his family. Following graduation from Eastern Illinois University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Business degree, Jeff served in managerial positions before moving to Olathe in 1984 to become Business Manager for the Harlan Parker Insurance Agency. That career lasted 40 years until his full retirement in December of 2024.

With his sense of community, Jeff has served in a variety of volunteer positions including being an active member of Foundry Church for over 20 years where he has been an elder and treasurer, along with other roles. Since 2006, Jeff has served on the Board of Trustees of Manhattan (KS) Christian College, including seven years as chairperson of the board. Within the Olathe community, Jeff is a former Rotarian and has served on several boards and committees, including the Olathe Planning Commission (1999-2008 and 2022-present), the Olathe Citizens Police Advisory Council (2008-2017) and the Olathe Police Foundation (2017-2024).

Committed to Olathe

Jeff's Priorities

With his business background, Jeff desires to work alongside the city’s leadership team to support fiscal policies that maintain the city’s strong bond rating while supporting the priorities of the citizens. He will strongly support the fire and police departments in their efforts of protecting Olathe residents and their properties. Transportation projects which improve traffic flow and safety, along with maintaining our existing road network will continue. Jeff understands that Olathe citizens value our parks and trail system and will work to maintain them for the enjoyment of the entire community.

Through budget oversight, ongoing economic development and prudent spending, Jeff believes that the budget can be limited to allow the property tax mill levy to be reduced. Continuing cooperation between the city and other entities, including local school districts and the county offer opportunities for joint efforts which may assist with this goal.
